As we celebrate a quarter-century of education and global service, we welcome Dr. Aaron Ciechanover to Charlotte as our Keynote Speaker. In addition, we will present the 25th Anniversary Echo Award Against Indifference to Eugene "Gene" A. Woods.

Dr. Ciechanover, who will be honored with the Sandra & Leon Levine Medal for Life, received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry "for the discovery of ubiquitin-mediated protein degradation," a process by which proteins are tagged for destruction within a cell. The Echo curriculum "Living Science: The Aaron Ciechanover Project" details the science behind his Nobel Prize-winning discovery and his work since that time.
The Echo Foundation 25th Anniversary Echo Award Against Indifference will be presented to Gene Woods. Woods has a 30-year track record as a renowned leader in healthcare and currently serves as the president and CEO of Atrium Health. Echo honors Woods for his commitment to and transformative impact in health equity, access and delivery, both in Charlotte and across the country.
