The China Book Project was a cooperative effort by students and teachers in America and China to create English language libraries at Ningyuan #1 Middle School and Changsha Anli Foreign Language School in Hunan province.The project began in an effort to improve the students proficiency in English.
The Echo Foundation was able to partner with local schools and organize a book drive that produced 1,200 books. All of the books were donated by students, teachers, and the schools’ libraries. There was a wide variety that was donated, ranging from fairy tales to computer programming.
The success of the China Book Project was two fold, The Echo Foundation and partnering schools were able to impact the lives of Chinese students half a world away by providing books for them to read and learn English, as well as beginning to foster a relationship between American and Chinese students and working together toward a common goal.
